Social trouble at school ):
Q: My friend and I are having real difficulties at school. Were just starting year 11 and so dont want to move, but no-one in our year clicks with us. Its a private school and all female so numbers are very small, and of course were friendly to everyone but dont share the same interests or veiws with us . The problem is that they are all very "straight edge", meaning there ideal night of fun is gathering round a T.V in there pajamas watching some soppy film, giggling when a good looking guy come in. They hardy swear (not that they should) and glare at us when we do and over all we find them really boring. We dont want to change any of them to be more like us because there happy but we want to have a social group of cool, fun friends who will have a piss up with us and relax the rules a bit outside school but this is really difficullt to do because of the lack of links. We know were nice and have the potential to fin it really well but we just dont know anyone and its gettign us down as we dont want to waste our teenage years. Help is needed :DThanks xxx
A: I'm in an extremely similar situation: private school, tons of straight edges and then us. the best way i know to get involved in things outside of school is taking every chance you get to make new friends out of school even if they don't seem like what you're looking for, because you never know who you may meet through them. facebook is a good resource for that, if you use it. where do you live and is it a boarding school? that can make quite a difference in what opportunities you have.
