Help! Trying to claim back emergency tax in Ireland, whilst living in N.I.?

Q: If anyone can help me with this I would really appreciate it, I live in the north of Ireland just over the border and started a job in county Louth at the start of November 2009, I was put on emergency tax and was in no rush to claim it back as I just thought it is like money in the bank, but the longer I was on it, as you can imagine, my tax was getting higher each week, so at the start of April I went to the tax office in Dundalk ( county louth) and filled out the 12 a form and was assured I would get it back within 2 weeks via my employer, I thought that there was a back log, so just waited, unfortunately myself and some colleagues were let go on 16th March, so I went to the tax office and asked about the tax I had applied to get back, they had no record of me applying for it, even though it was the girl I was speaking to who had dealt with it. So another form was filled in, I handed over the 2 relevent parts of my p45 and also my p60 and was told it would be a few weeks. I have now received a letter to say that as I have not been resident in Ireland for a minimum of 186 days that I have to wait until the end of the 2010 tax year to receive this back!! Its not like I am trying to claim some sort of benefits or something for nothing, this is my money and I have never felt so angry in my life! I have worked it out at about €1400 that I am owed! Please, if anyone knows a way to get my money, I would be so, so grateful! At the moment I am feeling so cheated, it seems if they had processed my original claim for emergency tax whilst I was working, it would be no problem, but because I had the misfortune of getting laid off and the fact that I am not officially an Irish resident, I am not allowed to get this money which I have earned ! HELP!

A: Might be better to post this in the Ireland forum?
