I don't think this is bad news about visa's?

Q: I'm currently saving up to head to America I know times aren't the best there and allot of other things, I'm either going to The States as a tourist or a worker anyway I don't want to hear negative responses so take them elsewhere just those with serious answers, would this article affect me I'm 18 I'm a New Zealand Citizen living in Australia and have been for a long time I plan on staying for longer than that Visa Waiver program so I don't think it would affect me"The US Department of Homeland Security will start turning away Aussies who arrive without a new online travel visa as of 12 January. The electronic visa has been offered since August on a trial period, but will become mandatory next week. Passengers need to complete a travel visa online 72 hours before their intended flight or cruise departure, or risk being turned away at the gate.Less paperwork but more drama? The new electronic visa scheme will affect travelers using the Visa Waiver Programme, which applies to overseas visitors from 27 countries, including Australia, New Zealand and the UK. Previously Australian (and selected other) tourists would fill out a document (the I-94W form) in-flight, providing basic biographical and travel information, but as of 12 January 2009 this information will have to be submitted online three days prior to travel."It's very important to us to remain a welcoming country to visitors and business travelers and students from around the world, and, at the same time, recognize the importance of maintaining vigorous security standards", said US Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff. But the queue is so long already! The US Ambassador to Australia is defending the move towards electronic registration, and feels that by taking the system online travelers will experience shorter queues and quicker processing time when they reach America paper-free."Australians that will be traveling to the United States under various visa programs will be able to, in my view, expedite their admission into the United States rather than defer it", said Ambassador Robert McCallum.Actually, we're no better ...European countries that take part in the Visa Waiver Programme have raised concerns about privacy issues surrounding the electronic visa. The Australian government has been noticeably quiet on the topic — most likely because Yanks are already required to register online for a visa to Australia 72 hours before they hit our shores ...How do I apply?Just go to the US Electronic System for Travel Authorisation's website: https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov."

A: The US ESTA is different from the Australian ETA or e-visitor which I have to apply for if I would want to visit Australia. It just contains the same information which is at present to be provided by visa waiver program travellers filling out the I-94W form. After a transition period of several month it is planned to abolish the I-94W form, probably in June 2009.A study has revealed that using the electronical means is more cost effective than checking filled out forms at immigration and it will help to reduce queues it Immigration.I don't have problems to provide the same information three days in advance if it helps to shorten the time of the Immigration procedures. My German government is concerned of privacy issues sourrounding the electronic visa but on the other hand requires me to keep registered wherever I should plan to permanently stay in Germany. That is one of the reason why the British citizens to not want to get an ID card and I agree with them. The Australian government wants to know where I live before issuing an e-visitor, the US government does not ask me that.
